Have you ever noticed, let's say while driving someplace alone, that there is this whole rich multi-layered saga going on, complete with drama and intrigue, sadness or joy, fear or excitement, worry or love... and that there is not one, but MANY varied story lines all running in and out of eachother forming a seemingly intricate tapestry of experience that is practically bursting at the seams with intensity?? When really, all that is ACTUALLY happening in reality is:
Body driving down road.
And have you ever noticed, let's say while talking with a loved one, that there is that same whole rich multi-layered saga going on - worlds of thoughts and worries and drama - a veritable roller coaster ride of emotion and speculation?? When really, all that is ACTUALLY happening in reality is:
Bodies with sounds coming out of them.
This may strike you as funny, it certainly does me, but the point is that there is no-point during any of this in which you are not present. Your presence is UNAVOIDABLE. Have you noticed? There is never a time when you are not present. You have never experienced such a thing.
It's just a question of, what are you present AS, NOW?
Yes I said "as" and yes, I mean "as". There is nothing but that which is called "presence".
Present as an intricately layered story, spun from the loom of presence itself... or present as the noticing of pure experience, without the whole drama of the story.
Both are absolutely miraculous and beautiful in their own way.
Both are just this 'presence' that you are, doing that presence thing you do, in your many splendored way.
It's not personal. It's just life.
It may come as a shock, but you are not other-than, different-to, or in-opposition-of Life in any way.
Never lost, never hidden, always found.
p.s. This may sound too simplistic, or dismissive, but it isn't. It includes absolutely EVERYTHING. And yes, it is as simple as a summer breeze. What is called "simplicity" is a PROFOUND noticing. I cannot sing its praises highly enough. :)
